Godus is an amazing sandbox game. The 4+ rating should actually be around 8+ as it takes a little skill and intelligence to play and have fun with, understand, and enjoy. It is a game about being a god and controlling or helping your civilization advance. You start off on a little peninsula where you learn to sculpt the land. You use your newly learned powers to save drowning followers. You then need to sculpt the way for the followers to find the Promised Land. There, your followers will begin to build abodes and shelters on sand, until you unlock the ability to sculpt and have your followers settle on grass. You need to help the followers advance in numbers, unlocking cards and stickers to unlock powers and abilities. They repair beacons, unlocking new areas to settle and grow. Voyages are a puzzle system, where you and your followers are on an island, and you have to sculpt the way, avoiding dangers and mulch, to the temple, making the fastest possible time to reach it. You will get generous rewards for your efforts. I will leave the rest of the game to discover for yourself. The developers have clearly put a lot of effort into Godus, and it is definitely worth a try. Just to warn you, it does need a good Wi-Fi connection to play. I definitely recommend it for children 7 or 8+ I hope your civilization thrives as you raise it in Godus.
So before writing this I actually played for a good while as in a few days. At first I thought it was cool but was waiting for the catch. Then I notice okay I need some gems and beliefs to make things happen. From reading the other comments, I’d say they didn’t pay attention or play long enough. To get rid of the ads all you have to do is make one purchase. I did the $5 one and no mor ads and It was a good purchase haha. Also the gems, yes buying it from the store is easier and faster. But you get free gems in some of the treasure chests you find, and you actually get to unlock a card in the game that allows the miners to dig up gems for you. So if you aren’t patient then don’t complain. Ive seen the bad reviews and its not fair. I think this game is very well made, Ive been looking for a game where i can just manage what I what without having to do any missions, I can just be god, create, manage, destroy, build. All on my own time and its relaxing too. So thank you to the creators for building such a wonderful game with so much freedom to do what you want. You can tell it took time and thought to make this, its not just for the ads and money. Been looking for games like this in the App Store and this is the first I found that really does what it says haha. Hope you guys make more! (:
I love this game! i first started playing when i was..lets say when the game first came out, and i really enjoyed it. Very calming sounds, the details are cool. So bascially there was a few issues and weird stuff like the rotating the screen motion didnt quite work out as good. it took at least two tries to rotate/move the screen to a different area in the island. And yeah i think it could be a problem with my device, or maybe the game not sure. It is very..let me tell you VERY stressfull when sculpting land cost so much belief. Its super annoying cause there could be a follower drowning and it would tell me that i have 0 belief. yikes. The thing is why does it cost so much belief im a god that is taking care of their followers and not to be annoying but like it shouldnt have to cost to help your followers. Another annoying/stressfull🥲 situation is whenever i sculpt and a new plot gets drawn on the land, i send the builders to go there to build but whenever i go away to check on the others they get stuck when theirs a whole dam stairs infront of them and they go behing the building when they see the stairs clearly☠️ they be scratching their heads looking for it when its infront of them, i just found it funny/weird. I give the game 5 stars cause i dont get bored of it loll
I’ve played Godus on and off for years and I’ve always felt progression is wayyy off. I think the Astari need to have more control over the world making the player more fearful of them. Give us a reason to want to make our people happy. Losing a follower or 3 that are just gonna be depopulated doesn’t do anything. Let the Astari expand and grow across gray land. As their power grows maybe have ours weaken. I also think things like trees and beautify power need to be tweaked. Trees in the mid game get so expensive especially when some people only use them as an aesthetic. They should not progressively get more expensive their bonus just should cap out and not stack after a max of 5 trees in the radius. With the beautify power it should have an effect on the look of our adobes. Let our adobes have blue tents and songs and plots similar to a converted Astari. The beautify can work as either a one tap on a building maybe double tap to beautify it and tap and drag to clear blighted land. Lastly I think mobile needs a way to build upwards as well as the ability to create rivers/waterfalls. Give us a “gift” ability to add a water stream. Allow us to enter a specific build mode where double tapping creates an upward layer with a toggle on and off mode to allow the player not to be confused.
I've downloaded this app at least 4 times since I first saw it on the App Store, and I had to end up deleting it four times because of the gems. Basically what would happen was that every time I would find gems in a treasure chest, the gem counter would just stay at zero. And it's extremely difficult and eventually impossible to get through the game without any gems, and I wasn't planning on buying any. I would get as far as whenever "Happy Followers" or something like that is introduced, and then my followers would slowly become unhappy until I was eventually left with a few loyal followers that were also on the verge of leaving. At first I was just going to leave the app alone because it seemed like the developers no longer wanted or saw a need to update the game or fix anything, until now I saw an update that was this year in May. I haven't opened the app for the fifth time yet, but I hope this got fixes along with any other bugs. Otherwise I absolutely love this app, which is why I kept coming back to it in hopes that this bug (and some other things) would be fixed. And the graphics and the concept are amazing, but just be warned, before you download this app, you may run into a few glitches along the way.
I was looking for a game that was an alternative to SimCity. This game ended up being like civilization crossed with SimCity. The game does not give you early on a way to really truly make your followers happy. Once they are no longer happy they will leave your island. I have put about two weeks into this game. During this time I have completed many voyages, which were not fun at first, but I found entertaining after a while, have expanded my main island, and completed a few trials. In order for you to keep your followers happy you have to give them gifts. The free ways to keep them happy only work for a short time. When you don’t go on the game every day and pay attention to the fact that the Atari, the rival civilization to your, are having festivals there is no way to keep from massive amounts of followers leaving island. The moment you login, the Atari are having a festival giving you no chance to be able to make your followers happy. I did succumb to making a few micro transactions, hoping that it would be enough for a while. It was not. I will be uninstalling the game. This is so sad because I believe the PC version so much better than phone micro transactions from a game already I believe to be 10 years old. This was my first time playing it, however, and I will not be recommending it to others. Do better.
This would be a five star if the game didn’t feel like a waiting simulator because the wait times jump from seconds to minutes as soon as you hit grass and the third beacon takes ONE HOUR to fix and I understand you need money from this game but kind of forcing players to wait an hour or spend money AND this strategy makes players think “ I don’t want to wait an hour and watch a temple being built I should do something else while this progresses which makes them leave and go do something else instead use reasonable microtans actions so that the thing that ruins so many other mobile games super currency such as diamonds crystals etc are not present on this game the micro transactions should be lowered down to 1.99 for 20 gems have 4.99 for 50 and the wait times should be lowered so that the person doesn’t feel like they have to pay to have fun instead they feel like the gems are little boosters that they can purchase to wait a little less but they don’t NEED to because the wait times are within five minutes. But the pros are the powers are cool and the game is fun with core mechanics but trying to make money by hurting the fun is just bad, but in conclusion I think that if the wait times were smaller and gems were just little boosters I think this game would be 5 stars
So I wanted to try out this game cause it seemed interesting and it was at first. It was relatively simple and straightforward. I had a few crashes here and there but that was okay. After a certain point though, it became difficult to maintain the happiness of the people because all the things (temples, tree of happiness, having enough cards to unlock new stuff) required money. There are options of “earning” the stars/jewels but the amount earned and amount needed doesn’t make a suitable balance for people who do not want to spend money. And if happiness drops, you lose your followers to another group of people (Astari). Which is a problem if you want to keep unlocking new cards, settlement, etc. And another problem is sculpting the land. I play on my phone so sometimes it’s hard to sculpt without accidentally getting rid of something I wanted to keep or it accidentally builds something that I did not want to build. There’s no “undo” option for accidents. The graphic is okay and the play is smooth. But the sound tracks are monotonous and it disappears here and there. Overall I would rated it 3.5/5 because it is an sandbox game on the phone but to perfectly enjoy expanding you would need to pay for items. So depending on how willing you are to spend, you enjoyment will increase or decrease.
