D4DJ Groovy Mix is easily one of the most refreshing entries in the mobile rhythm genre. While most competitors stick to a simple lane-based tapping system, Groovy Mix introduces a DJ-centric layout featuring sliders and turn-table discs that require you to flick and hold in ways that feel tactile and rhythmic. It’s not just about hitting notes; it’s about feeling like you're actually mixing a track. The inclusion of 'Technical Scoring' is a godsend for purists—it allows you to compete based on your actual skill rather than just how high-level your gacha cards are.
The music library is staggering. You get a mix of high-energy original EDM tracks, anime covers, and surprising collaborations from franchises like Touhou and other rhythm games like WACCA. The Live2D character models are incredibly expressive, and the stories are fully voiced, adding a level of polish that justifies the download size. Whether you're a casual fan of the anime or a hardcore rhythm gamer looking for a high skill ceiling, this is a must-play.
Over 400 tracks including J-Pop and Game Music
Fully voiced Live2D story chapters
Technical Scoring for skill-based competition
Customizable DJ Booth skins and effects
The orange disc notes require a quick flick. Unlike regular notes, timing your flick with the turntable's rotation is key to maintaining your combo during intense EDM drops.
Players can adjust the speed, layout, and even the sensitivity of the DJ sliders to match their playstyle, ensuring the controls never feel sluggish.
Yes, 'Audience Mode' allows you to watch the performance and listen to the music without tapping notes.
Reviewing from the perspective of somebody who plays more for the rhythm aspect than the gacha or story. D4DJ stands out among the myriad of other mobile gacha rhythm games to me. The gameplay is more interesting with the disc and slider note types. And unlike any other gacha rhythm game to my knowledge, it offers technical scoring, in addition to the typical card based scoring. Very great feature for people like me who are more interested in the rhythm gameplay and don’t necessarily care about the cards. The music selection also feels more tied to the overall rhythm gameplay scene than other gacha rhythm games. In addition to the many original tracks by the game’s original groups, there’s also some Touhou music, collaborations with other rhythm games (WACCA, Rhythm Doctor, maimai). The Japanese server even has a cover of conflict, though it’s absent here. The overall EDM focus of the game’s original music also makes it more similar to other rhythm games, a game genre that overall tends to have a strong focus on electronic music genres. TL;DR - D4DJ is a strong recommendation for rhythm gamers who want more in-depth gameplay than other gacha games tend to offer, and can more easily ignore the gacha aspect of the game due to the addition of technical scoring.
I typically don’t write reviews, but I have some thoughts I’d like to share. the graphics are very meh for once, none of the cards are particularly jawdropping, + most of the characters seem to have as much personality as a stale piece of bread. The overall layout of the game is honestly very painful to look at. I understand they were trying to go for a certain theme, but I feel like it doesn’t really work well, and to be blunt, is ugly. It’s just not appealing to the eye. I also feel as if the game is overall very overwhelming, I feel like it has a bit too many features, and I was constantly getting popups when I was just simply just trying to play the live show. On that note as well, the option to customize ur own club is cool and all, but I feel like it’s very lackluster and honestly not really necessary. The songs are also in my opinion, kinda bad.. some of them are really great! but the covers are very meh in particular and I feel as if most covers literally sound like they were made in garage band, I also had a lot of trouble with the live shows in particular, I feel with the way the live shows are designed, it makes it overall very difficult to play especially when your a thumb player, this coming from someone who can fc 27 songs on bang dream… I can however appreciate the fact that they made it to where even if you get a good, it counts towards ur combo.
I’ve had so much fun with this game. I have a few ideas for improvements, though: - Card Trading / Swapping System Say you get a high-level card of a character or outfit you don’t want. How about you put your undesired card onto an in-game public marketplace, and select the card you would rather have instead? Then, a player who wants your card and has the card you desire, they click “Accept” and you’re given a second chance to accept or decline in case you made a mistake. It goes through, and everyone’s happy! Of course, this system could go on a per-character, per-team, per-star rating basis, but it could follow that framework. This would add an additional level of community outside the game itself, players chatting with one another to find optimal trade deals. - Fix Online Matchup System ( + Temp. Ban System) Before online matchups were made faster by the addition of NPCs, there were “mini conversations” by way of the stamp system. The automatic NPC fill-empty-slots function, though at times convenient, kind of ruined this aspect of the game’s community. Turning this from an automatic function to one that can be toggled manually by the first player to arrive at the multi-live could restore it while still offering convenience. Also, the banning system is rather glitchy. Today, for instance, I had a bad internet connection and unintentionally disrupted many games in a row. The game mistook this as foul play and banned me for the day. So… fix this, please? - - - - Thanks for reading, Bushiroad / Donuts + the interested gamer! I sincerely hope you check this game out (you won’t regret it :] )!
Great rhythm game that deserves way more attention and love! I’m a long-time player of BanG Dream!, and I also greatly enjoy Colorful Stage. However, D4DJ provides a fun, unique, and well-designed rhythm game experience quite different from those two and definitely worth a try. The gameplay is incredibly smooth and each map feels thoughtfully made. This game has a higher learning floor than other rhythm games, but I would say the average beatmap difficulty is lower than both Bandori and Proseka. The original songs are catchy, the cover songs are generally good, and the outside songs (licensed but not covered songs, such as “Redo”) are a nice touch to keep adding new music to the game. I love the character designs and enjoy the mixed-media aspect of the series. I appreciate that there are consistent UX/UI updates to make the experience easier for the player. There are indeed cons but nothing so egregious that I would take a star off: the localization is okay, I dislike the decision to try to catch up to the JP server since we lost events in EN (I particularly wish that they didn’t skip the RONDO Valentine’s Day event), and, while the game is fairly generous with free diamonds, there are a crazy amount of 4* cards for certain characters as well as a lot of limited collaboration cards. The artwork can get way oversexualized, which is especially frustrating because of the high school age characters. I know it’s unfortunately a norm with gacha games but that’s still a con for me. The stories are fun but pretty basic after a while and follow the same formulas. Still, even with these criticisms, I think D4DJ is an incredibly fun rhythm game, and you should definitely give it a shot!
I love D4DJ it’s fun and adds a challenge that other rhythm don’t have. But it very hard for me to get diamonds with playing for hours I mean I get taking a few hours to get a couple thousand but I can get 600 if I’m lucky a day and I’m not gonna wait and waste time not getting a card to do a 10 pull also this event the quintessential quintuplets or something is hard I have not gotten a single item from the exchange for this event Maybe it cause I’m not gonna play 16 hours a day for the items but I think this is a problem I get it’s a gacha game so obviously there target is to get money but this just seems so stupid if you want people to play the game and buy from it you’d figure out a way to fix the problems and get your money And the prices to it’s like 15-30 dollars USD (not sure how much) for 3060 diamonds I believe and that pretty expensive for a game and for a person who can’t drop that much on a game especially with the pandemic Maybe it’s just me but I think it’s stupid to spend that much for a card (and other events so far have had multiple 4 stars where you get one with the paid 10 pulls this event luckily doesn’t) but as a business your going to need to take risks lower price=more people buying to get the cards and then word will spread “oh that game has cheap prices and looks pretty good I’ll give it a try” “I heard about this game on Facebook I’ll give it a try” and over time because of this stuff people will buy more without realizing how much they’ve spent and more people will come to because of the it I’m just ranting now but you get the point of it
I wanna start off by saying, wow! This game is different from other rhythm games because not only do u have to click all the notes at the right time but u also do things that makes it like real DJ! But I’m wondering, one of the songs is Moonlight Densetsu, from Sailor Moon so that’s interesting. I also think that it’s a little too hard. There are so many things u need to do and I know we can change that to focus on just one thing but I preferred to do it all! That’s all really cool game!😄 Ok I’m back and I wanna ask why not all of the LyriLily members have magical DJ outfits. I love LyriLily and I love magical girls so how come only Miiko has one? I’d love to dress each of the members in magical DJ outfits! My DJ unit is entirely made up of LyriLily members and I want to dress them in magical DJ outfits. I definitely would want Miyu in a pink outfit since I love the color pink and Miyu’s hair is pink! Thank you! One more thing! I want there to be a reward for getting all the songs in one DJ unit. I got all the songs in LyriLily since it’s my fave and I was hoping for a reward. Like a title saying LyriLiliy Songs or something. Or a LyriLily things to put in my club. Anything that has to do with LyriLily! Bye thank u I hope u read all of my recommendations!
TLDR; as a comparison to bang dream, this game is amazing. it’s like the same game with slight different mechanics and a whole new set of characters. enjoyable, challenging, and most importantly, fun! honestly, this game is just REALLY GREAT. i came to this game as a pretty decent bang dream player, expecting the exact same mechanics and similar features. however, my expectations were completely blown. now, i certainly didn’t come to this game with no prior knowledge as i did watch the anime, and ever since i finished it, i’ve been waiting for the game to come to en servers. the characters are all just AMAZING (muni is obviously the best character), and i love being able to collect them in the gacha. just like bang dream. and that’s also one thing i like. it’s similar to bang dream, but it’s not a clone. there are so many games that just have the same exact mechanics as bang dream with a little tweaking here and there, but d4dj is anything but! there are so many aspects of this game that just make it slightly more hard. in other words, slightly more enjoyable. overall, this game gives off the same feeling and satisfaction as bang dream, whilst being more challenging and having a different overall theme.
For some reason, it’s usually pretty hard for me to get attached to characters in idol/rhythm games like these. But with D4DJ I actually found it quite easy to warm up to the characters! I very much enjoyed reading through RONDO’s stories, and recently started looking more into Lyrical Lily! Was a little shocked by how much I liked them, too...found myself chuckling while reading through their story(ies). I will say that the actual gameplay isn’t quite what I’m used to - which is both for better and for worse! I do understand that some of the elements that make it different are meant to do that exact thing: make it more unique, but the pink line really does bother me sometimes...actually moving it is fine; having to ignore it sometimes is more the issue. Hopefully as I practice more I’ll get better with this!! Not the games fault, just my personal taste! Extra note: I really like the little games they pair with events like bingo and slots machines (that you get to do just by getting coins from playing through songs by the way - not a microtransaction thing) they’re fun and refreshing!!
