NEW CHAMPIONS
MARVEL CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH EPIC NEW ARRIVALS:
M’Baku
The charismatic and formidable leader of the Jabari Tribe, is one of Wakanda’s most powerful warriors and a frequent rival of T’Challa. He is a traditionalist, a worshipper of the White Gorilla, Ghekre, living with his tribe in the isolated mountains away from the rest of Wakanda due to ideological differences. He and his tribe reject the technological progress embraced by T’Challa’s leadership. Though often seen challenging T’Challa’s rule, ultimately his motivations stem from a deep belief in maintaining Wakanda’s ancient traditions.
Blue Marvel
Adam Brashear had always been a prodigy—a college football star with multiple Ph.D.s who earned two Silver Stars serving as a Marine in the Korean War. While leading Project: Perseus, an attempt to harness the power of antimatter, Adam and his fellow Marine Conner Sims were caught in a reactor explosion. Conner was vaporized, but the reaction stabilized within Adam’s body, granting him the amazing powers of the Blue Marvel. When his identity as a Black man was revealed in a titanic battle alongside the Avengers, Adam was asked by the President to retire, as the country was not ready for the most powerful man in America to be openly and unapologetically Black. For decades, he obliged, but after losing much of his family in another accident, he has since returned to stand against the ever present threats of the modern world.
CHAMPION UPDATES
Heimdall is getting a kit update!
NEW FEATURES
NEW QUESTS AND EVENTS
Event Quest - A Walk In The Park
Strange influences have turned Central Park into a dense vibranium and ISO-laced forest. The Summoner will need to seek out the scientific mind of BLUE MARVEL and the protection of M’BAKU to keep this park in place. Will friends and foes band together? Or will there be deforestation and destruction?
Side Quest - Lunar New Year Squad Builder
Experience a fresh take on the Squad Builder mode, where Champion Factions determine the score! Participating Champions are assigned to 1 of 5 Wuxing element Factions of varying sizes. The smaller the Faction, the more points their Squad groupings are worth. As with the previous run of Squad Builder, there will be a weekly Solo Event which will contain Side Quest rewards, as well as points based on rank for the new Alliance Event. Alliances that are competitive throughout the event will have the chance to play for a 7-Star Heimdall.
This time around we are also introducing an Alliance gifting component to the event, where Bronco Tokens can be gifted to Alliance members to gain entry to the energized event entry, where points scored will be tripled. Bronco Tokens will be earned via Weekly Clash Event milestones, with additional tokens being purchasable from the store.
Alliance Quest - Meta Weeks
We are introducing a new format for Alliance Quests - Meta Weeks! Meta Weeks are a brand-new, optional event type that will be part of our four-week Alliance Quest (AQ) cycle. Meta Weeks are a sort of blend of regular Alliance Quests and Raid Weeks, in that the format is similar to a standard quest, but like Raids, they will run over the course of a full week. Our first variation of the Meta Week format is The Rampant Evolution Variant. This event is all about celebrating and rewarding those champions who get stronger over time, like Aegon and Guillotine 2099, by making challenging encounters more trivial as you progress!

This is the best marvel game I’ve ever had (and the only one)! But let me just say it would be awesome if they added some more champions. But before I go into the update suggestions, I have a question: is there supposed to be a Thanos with the infinity gauntlet? Because I’ve seen some videos where Thanos had the IG but I don’t see him with it. I would appreciate if you got back to me about that question. Anyways, update suggestions. I know you don’t have a mode to where you can’t actually duel and fight other players, and I’m serious, I totally get that. But I’m sure it’s possible to turn the player around and for the controls to be the same. And also, I would be cool to have the iron venom (iron man and venom mixed) I saw a LEGO set with iron venom and he looked like a boss! It would be cool to add a venom update soon because he’s one of my favorite champions. Also, it would be awesome if you had a customizable champion mode or maybe a sandbox mode where you can test out champions you don’t have and/or face any champion you want. And lastly, it would be cool to have skins for certain champions like for iron man, it could be suits from the past or Scarlett witch age of Ultron appearance or cull obsidian with his mechanical claw. That’s all my suggestions, but I would definitely ask you to get back to this response and keep the updates coming!!
All the characters you could ever want are in this game, but getting to them might take months, or longer even. Unless you have ca$h, leveling up takes a long time if you don’t play all day everyday. There is also a large lack of gameplay variation, which helps and hurts the game. It keeps gameplay simple, and gives the opportunity to delight in the cinematic power moves, but many characters feel like exact copy-paste versions of themselves…Especially ground level characters that they have not updated to mirror the comics nor the MCU. For example, the MCU version of scarlet witch and black widow in this game are OP, but there is yet to be a Giant-man move added to ant-man, and all the updated versions of characters are very very rare. They are the ones that actually have been updated with more dynamic gameplay and attacks but you can barely enjoy them. My roster is pretty dope anyways, I multiple versions of the x-men, defenders, avengers, sinister 6, midnight suns, west coast avengers, etc. Nonetheless, you get so many champions along the way it’s fun to mix them up and fill out teams from the comics. Just wish the developers would actually read these reviews and take the game up a level. Like no matter how many stars a character is, it doesn’t make sense that I can beat a 4 star 4500 level character with a 3stat 1760 character purely off taking advantage of the simply gameplay.
I have been playing Marvel Contest of Champions for about 2 years, and it is by far the best mobile game I have ever played. But as you progress further down into the meat of the game, map 5 and 6 of alliance quest and tier 3 and bellow alliance war, the game loses the fun and the wallet wars comience. With the 4th of July offers showing us that Kabam favors the big spender, shown in the all father Odín a offer where if purchased 3 time, would grant a full tier 5 basic and 2 tier 2 alpha catalysts, the minimum spenders and free to play player in the beginning stages and end game are at a HUGE disadvantage. Kabam needs to get there head in the game, and think about the community, and not how full their wallets are. As a side note, I would like to see and new 5 star crystal system added, where instead of trying for every champion, you can pay a bit more shards and specify what champions you want to try for. For example, if you want to try for one of the avengers ( Spider Man Stark Enhanced, Captain America, Hawkeye, etc) you could pay some where along the lines of 2500 to 5000 extra 5 star shards to guarantee one of those champions, instead of a trying the 10k basic pool for a less than 1% chance at the specific champ you want. All in all, Kabam has made a great game, but with the issues I have discussed about above be resolved, it would go from great, to incredible.
I like how easy it is the block people and remove them from your chat. This game is really incredible and the attention to detail on just a mobile app is so cool! You can absolutely play this game for free but they do give you some pretty good deals to give you a lot of value especially early on that help with the story, which gives you a very reasonable amount of loot. There are a lot of avenues to progress in the game which makes it really fun and difficult near the end. My only complaint is that I absolutely can’t stand the world chat. There should be some type of censorship around words regarding race, like "chocolate, yellow, etc" followed by the word people, girl, boys, or whatever, because there is always some conversation going on about race. On top of it the people are… gross. The amount of people asking me "are you a boy" to verify if I’m a girl before they sexually harass me, is just so weird and so wrong. The moderators should do something about this, because there are impressionable kids that have to look at how some troll feels about someone’s race, because they might not know how to block someone. I’d add a reminder or a tutorial over that in the beginning before you are introduced to it and offer an option to just turn it off.
New Update: I'm still here, playing this game after 3+ years. I love this game and can still see/feel the potential here. That being said, coming from a game development background, Kabam seriously needs to be more transparent as well as fix what is STILL broken. Every update brings new things, good AND bad. Pushing the envelope is great, but pushing it while things are broken is not a good way to keep players. Recruiting is becoming hard. Players are leery of continuing. I get that keeping this thing running is tough, but many other companies(including your parent company) handle issues and player problems much differently and efficiently! You've got me as a long term player, and I know there are plenty of others out there. I want to give a 4+ review, but I can't do that until y'all fix the current issues, just listen to your players/customers. *Old: I'll upgrade my review to 3 stars. They are making progress but still have a long way to go in terms of a potentially great game. I've played this game since almost the beginning. There have been a lot of changes over the 2 years, most of them have been good for the game and balance. HOWEVER, the 12.0 patch has literally made the game into something completely different and has so many bugs that it is practically unplayable. I have hope Kabam/NetMarble will come to their senses and fix what they broke. Until that time, 2 stars is the best I can rate it.
This game use to be fun. Kabam has tuned out the players input. They make sweeping changes without consulting the player community, they claim to need time to fix things that the community wishes for but immediately push fixes for things that may exploit the game or give the player an advantage. They nerf powerful champs after the community has spent valuable time and hard earned resources to rank up only to have Kabam castrate that champs abilities and claim that the advantage was a glitch. For what reason? Don’t you test these champs before releasing them into the game? They force you to spend $ on alliance war revives if you want to remain competitive and win at war. You accumulate gold but it is useless except for ranking up your champs. You can convert it into anything useful. Clearly the crystal drops are manipulated, the game glitches or spins and extra tick and passes on a coveted champ or shortens the tick and drops ahead of a coveted champ. Top tier alliances get caught cheating, offering money between each other to sabotage war in order to keep their rankings, with photo proof and Kabam doesn’t ban them or even admonish them. This is collusion and Kabam caters to those who are big spenders. Buyer beware. You’d be better of de-stressing by reading a book or spending your time out communing with nature. Skip this game.
I would give this a 5 Star but, one main flaw that annoys me the most about this game.. So hear this, I’m playing an event and I start the first match on the maze first opponent 3 space away it charges me 3 of my energy. The next fight is 2 space away so you think it will charge me 2 energy… noooo it charges me 6. So then I realize why is the game charging me more energy than the actual steps it takes to get to the next fight.. Can someone from the development team please explain!?!?!? I’m seeing each time I move to a space let’s say it’s 1 space away it’s causing me 3 to 5 energy or if the fight is 4space it’s charging me 8 or 10 of my energy… The game is annoying because I should be playing longer but I have to wait hrs to pick back up on an event I could have finished if it took the required energy for each space.. I don’t mean to ramble but the game doesn’t make sense to me why charge me so much energy when I’m not going that far of space.. it’s like you charging me what it takes to get to the final fight than realizing I have other enemy at each stop I have to get thru before I can move 12 or 10 spaces to fight the boss.. I think that annoying and a bit cruel. Why is it set up that way? Explain please.. because the game is to fun to be wasting energy or moves you don’t even make.. lol.. charging me 12 energy just to go only 5 spaces.. Do y’all realize the game doesn’t that??
First off, i just want to make it clear that i have been playing this game for a few years on different accounts and for the most part it does require a lot of grinding, so i will speak from my own experience and the pro and cons of this game. The plot is diverse and the event quests go deeper into the lore. It’s easy how to understand the game mechanics work and how upgrading champions work. This game is somewhat generous with rewarding its players, and it’s easy to level up. However, most of the character designs look lacking or tacky. This also applies for the animations of the bottom tier characters, which they reuse most of the time. Compared to Marvel Rivals, you can easily see the difference between character design. This may seem like a small complaint, but a character’s detail of design should not be looking as plain as possible as Marvel comic characters are represented as flashy and appealing to its readers. It can catch the attention of consumers with a dramatic design. The combos are limited and highly based on timing. I do not recommend playing this game if you are not too familiar with fighting games because even the smallest mistake can get rid of a giant portion of your health, which is devastating. Other than that, the game itself is satisfactory! It introduces many Marvel characters and the roster is very diverse.
