This is a truly large update! Here's a summary of changes, because otherwise we'd easily hit the character limit in these patch notes.
- Added new Halloween Event stuff!
- Greatly extended the time period the Halloween Event covers. Before it would only happen on Halloween itself, and now it will last from the launch of the update all the way up to Nov 1st!
- Big revamp to how your AI Followers value different weapon categories and tiers! Short version: They should no longer drop a Claymore for a Tennis Racket, ever
- Lots and lots of new character customization options, both base and unlockable
- New ZP upgrades to get!
- Series of ZP upgrades that let you buy from Tnomey multiple times in one game!
- 12 new zombie head types!
- Duffle bag added, which lets you access your Trunk in Trader Camps where you don't have a car, or in the new Indoor-Only trader camps
- New Rare Trading Camp: Final Hospital, featuring a really good hospital food cafeteria and the Golden Scalpel
- Cleaning Lady buffed
- New Rare Trading Camp: Mechanical Fortress
- Two new and powerful robot special characters, designed by Professor Sycamore!
- New Location: Graveyard, with two variations
- New Location: Public Park, with many variations and random bits
- New Character: Jack Hamm, the jackhammer expert
- New Fireworks vendor added to the general trader rotation! Sells 4 new fireworks types, all useful for distracting zombies, and then the KO BOOMER which is useful for blowing yourself up by mistake
- Jackhammers added
- Lots of tweak to the following old locations: Quiet Factory, factories in general, and all standalone houses and apartment locations including the starter locations
- Ultramop power nerf, but knockback and cleave buffs
- Debutante Umbrella power buff
- The best weapon, the Tire Iron, changed so the AI don't favor it as much
- Magazine chance removed from farm locations, as it would just glitch out anyway
- Farm tractors can now be looted for gas
- Mysterious Past + Martial Artist no longer gives points in shooting
- New characters added to OPP mode!
- You can now simply eat the bandits in the "Merciless Bandits" event
Death Road to Canada is a masterpiece of indie gaming that made a flawless transition to mobile. It plays like the classic 'Oregon Trail' mixed with top-down, frantic zombie beat-'em-up action. Managing your vehicle, food, and the hilarious personality traits of your randomized survivors makes every single playthrough completely unique.
The writing is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny, full of bizarre text events and weird characters you can recruit (including dogs that can learn to drive). The combat is surprisingly deep, requiring careful stamina management and weapon choice. It's incredibly difficult and you will die often, but jumping back in for another road trip is irresistible.
Endless replayability with randomly generated runs
Massive zombie swarms featuring up to 500 enemies on screen
Custom character creator to put yourself and your friends in the game
Incredibly deep and funny interactive text events
Don't fight unless you have to. Zombies are slow, so herd them into groups and run past them. Always prioritize finding food and gas over fighting.
Between towns, you'll face text-based events. The outcome depends heavily on the hidden personality traits of your survivors, like 'Paranoid' or 'Oblivious'.
Yes, the mobile port includes full MFi controller support for better combat maneuvering.
I have so much respect for the creators of this game, this is by far the greatest game on the iPhone (not including hearthstone, that’s a computer game). This game is so refined and polished to the point where I can’t believe it’s only 15 bucks! Honestly the replay value of this game with its tons of events, characters, vehicles, weapons, areas, game modes, and hilarious jokes is unmatched by any console game I can think of. It’s hard, and sometimes deaths can be aggravating, but each death lets you learn, okay, next time I won’t try to wrestle a moose! The custom character creator is brilliant with traits and perks of your friends and family give the game a personal touch and some funny scenarios, like how the “Berserk” trait has a character maul 3 bandits to save the group without a thought. The game is just simply a blast to play, from the careful decision making to the crazy stressful sieges. I won’t spill too luck of the gameplay because I want people to experience it for themselves. Put short, this game is a masterpiece, 5 stars without question. And one more thing, the developers listened to my complaint, I won’t say what, because again spoilers, but yeah this company cares about their games!
This is a very underrated game, and it has an amazing amount of effort put into it. However, I do have some suggestions for the game. The first suggestion would be a minor change to the bow. The piercing chance should be buffed, while the non- charged bow shot should be slightly weaker, to balance it. The second suggestion would be to have online multiplayer between friends on steam, game center, etc. The third suggestion would be to have fitness or strength increase a point every 200 zombies destroyed. The fourth would be to buff martial arts to deal slightly more knock-back and have more range. The fifth would be a new trait that resembles a careless, loyal and innocent character. The upsides would be something along the lines of having good attitude and loyalty. The downsides would be wits, strength, and fitness. This trait would either be similar to oblivious or it would replace it. This is all up to you, of course. I know this game doesn’t update anymore, but if you do see this, please don’t feel compelled to make these changes. These are just things that I feel would improve the game.
Apparently the game was 7$ a year ago according to another review which is a more reasonable price in my opinion. My main gripe with the game is the tutorial system or lack thereof. When you start the game they put you into a tutorial which shows you the basics of moving, attacking, and looting I guess. But they don’t explain to you what I think is a majority of the game the item management and character optimizations. The tutorial doesn’t show you what different weapon types do, how they interact with certain stats, or even how the guns work. Often times a character would be low health while I had a healing supplies but I didn’t know how to use them. There is a lot if depth to how characters are defined stat and class wise but without an explanation I found it frustrating to die repeatedly because I couldn’t understand what was happening. Also I have an issue with how the controls for moving are implemented. It might just be me but because you have an area that you slide ur finger around to move the character, I found myself having to repeatedly move my thumb back to neutral position because it would eventually run out of room on the screen. I like the other static joy stick style controls more because it makes me feel like I have more control.
Most games on iPhones can not compare to games on consoles or computer. This can is on all 3. One of the best games overall and maybe the best on iPhone. This game is like a much more in-depth and fleshed our Organ Trail. Organ Trail, was based off of Oregon Trail, But with zombies. Such a great game, I was skeptical to buy it at seven dollars but I know now that was a steal, and it seems so do the devs, because they raised the price a bit because of how easy it was selling. I would still buy it though knowing what I know now. No IAP so it is a full game with so many game modes, storylines to explore that you make along with your choices, and upgrades to help you unlock and beat the hardest game mode. With all of this content, I would pay $15+, but that is a little high because people don’t fully know what they are getting out of it. But I hope I convinced you to buy this, because this is my favorite game on iPhone, and in my top five overall. Not a sponsor review, just really love it!
For $15 this game gives you the option to play a million times. I’ve personally sunk in dozens of hours just playing this game on my phone. The game offers really satisfying gameplay and funny dialogue choices in events. The fact that an iphone is able to handle hundreds of zombies on the screen is baffling to mean, and that is without any sort of stuttering or frame drop. If you’re interested in playing a fun rpg oregon trail type of game and has the $15 to spare, I highly recommend picking this game up. For those that complain about controls, you could make it like a joystick by tweaking the settings in the menus. And if you want to cheat a little in the game there is a exploit where if you close out the game and restart it would reset to the previous event you were at and let you pick your choices again. I think this exploit allows you to explore more and let you have more fun and not really rely on rng too much.
First of all the controls are great, very responsive and I feel like I have a good grip when controlling movements and attacking, next off the humor is on point and always stays to the silly theme of the game, everything about the game is great from trader camps made up of renaissance fair dwellers to progressive trait/perk upgrades and unlocks the more I play the more I feel I’m constantly getting better. However there is one minor issue I have, I’ve played over 200 hours in this game unlocking nearly everything except for a few “uncks”, Soon after that I get a new phone and decide to download the app again and I found there is no way for me to transfer my game data even with the same game center and apple login, I would absolutely LOVE if you guys could come up with a simply data transfer method, other than that great game 5/5 would recommend to anyone who is after a challenge
This game never ceases to amaze me. The graphics are grainy which gives a feel like I'm playing a VHS tape. It's modern and retro style characters and customizations are always great. The humor always makes me laugh with it's funny insults, names, and general humor. The general difficulty of this game is really good. Most people complain about it but I believe the difficulty is what gives this game it's replaying abilities. One game of normal mode can easily spiral down into a horrible ending while another give you a chainsaw right off the bat with tons of supplies. Cross platform gameplay on LAN or local play would make this game complete. An idea for the developer: maybe add an endless mode where you can go as long as you can without dying with difficulty increasing continuously. Or an arena mode to fight endless waves of undead. Over all, this game has alway amazed me and will always be one of my favorites. Time for me to COOL IT
Sorry this is kinda a long one but I just needed to say this: I've been playing this game for a long time and I really like it too! But all it needs is multiplayer. It would be better if you could have multiplayer like in the computer version. It should be like two players on different devices connect to the same Internet and play together! Another thing you could do is have half of the screen one player and the other half on the other player too! Like a local device option where the Internet thing happens like I said and a local option where the two players can play on the same device! Overall I really like this game and I hope you guys add multiplayer (especially the same device one because I love playing this game with my I pad) but keep coming with all the good updates this game is one of my favorites!
