We've made technical improvements to enhance the app's performance and stability. Various bugs have been fixed to provide a smoother and more reliable user experience. Thank you for using our app!
This game would be five stars if the ads could chill. They are so long and annoying, and ironically? oftentimes the games advertised claim to be “ad-free”. I don’t believe it personally, because they’re misleading to begin with. (The game with the mom and the baby in the snowstorm? Yeah, that actually does NOT exist, folks.) But if this is true, then surely this game doesn’t need ads. Really it would just be an improvement if you could exit out of them after ten or so seconds, like the case is for other games. Anyway, this is the one reason I can’t give the game five stars, and also no, I’m not going to spend a portion of my money for the premium version of a word game. I acknowledge that this is one way game designers make an income, but there has to be a better way to handle it, right? Like I said, at least give us the option to x out of the ad after 10-20 seconds…and if Apple could maybe pay the designers more, that would help. But that’d be an ethical decision and Apple’s CEO is anything but that.
Let me say I enjoy the game itself. I play it daily. The puzzles are fun - even if they still aren’t very challenging as of level 193. ****My issue is the ABSURD amount of ads. I’d give it 5 stars if not for that. I do understand the reason for ads. But one at the end of every level + one before you start the next is bad enough. Like just one in between should suffice but whatever I’ll watch two in a row... But several “Ad Breaks” throughout while you’re in the middle of a puzzle on top of that? WHY? That’s just too much. The ads slow the game down massively. Sometimes it will crash and restart a puzzle I was nearly done with or it’ll lag so badly I have to relaunch the app. It’s also very annoying and distracting when you’ve got a train of thought going solving a puzzle, you’re trying to enter in a letter and suddenly an ad breaks in and it’s like 10 mins long and when it’s finally over you don’t even remember what you were doing! Bug to fix: Could the timer please stop when you close the app or close your phone? I can’t always finish a puzzle before I stop playing. The timer will keep going - sometimes all night and then say it took me 12 hours to complete the puzzle - which throws off my average time. It’s not the biggest deal in the world but if you’re going to have a feature in your app it might as well work properly.
I love cryptograms so this is a perfect game for me. I enjoy that in addition to the traditional levels, they have a daily puzzle as well as weekly tournaments and activities you can play. I do have some issues though. 1 - my phone gets insanely hot while playing. I don’t know why, it’s the only app on my phone that heats it up so much. That leads to me only being able to do one or two puzzles before I have to turn off the app. 2 - the new multiplier countdown thing that counts down if you’re not putting in letters immediately, causes insane lag for some reason. I don’t understand how a game like this can have lag, but it does. Meaning it’s hard for me to enter letters correctly because if I do two back to back, because of the lag, the game marks me as putting a letter in wrong because it was about 10 seconds behind my keystroke. And 3 - there are a lot of ads (and they’re always very long ones). There’s an ad when you open the app, there’s at least 1 ad in the middle of doing a puzzle, and always an ad at the end of a puzzle. I understand needing to have ads in games to keep them free, but this just feels like they’re milking the ad money because they can.
The idea seems really unique and cool but whether it is a flaw in design or the nature of the puzzle many puzzles are literally unsolvable without blind guessing and hints. You are often left in a position where you are effectively playing hangman but unlike hangman you have to guess the letter and where it goes to get confirmation. Ive had multiple puzzles where it started with only 2 letters and both were already completed so i had no possible way of placing a single letter without random guessing. You can do minesweeper deduction logic where you make assumptions and see if they make sense but without the ability to play letters in the wrong spot instead of just being told you are wrong that is impractical. If i could turn autocheck off it would be an alright puzzle game but with it on the game is just a lot of random guessing or watching ads for hints to get an actually reasonable number of starting letters. Above all that the ads are so intrusive trying to navigate the menu to pick a category requires watching sometimes 4+ ads in a 30 second period. Thats not a huge problem though because if the game is good i would just pay to remove ads but its not so its not worth it.
It’s truly disappointing when you find a game that you like and then the developers completely ruin it. The ads are utterly ridiculous and come several times during a game versus in between every couple of games. You are relaxed and on a roll solving a puzzle, and then you get completely frustrated by stupidly long ads that you can’t get out. I understand that the ads help them develop the game but they haven’t made new levels in months and so all you can do is the daily challenge if you’ve reached the end of all of the levels. I think they’re spending all of their ad money on ways that they could just charge more money. Extremely disappointed and no longer referring others to this game. Update. I still don’t know how this game has an overall rating of 4.6 when everybody is rightfully rating it three stars and below. If you are looking for a relaxing and fun game, this is not it. But if you are looking for something to get you utterly frustrated because of their ridiculously long ads that pop up every few seconds that they say help them update their app that hasn’t added new levels to it for at least five months or so, don’t waste your time.
ok so, this game deserves 3 stars, maybe even less. the game itself is fine, i understand the idea of it, but there are times when it is COMPLETELY impossible to know what letter goes in a spot. So this forces you to either, guess, and perhaps get it right, or watch an add… moving me into my next point on why i think this app deserves 3 stars. The amount of adds are INSANEEEE!!! holly cow, i will be lock in, AND I MEAN LOCKED IN, when all the sudden i get “add break”.. like bru and they try to make it all cutesy and put it in cursive.. like that is going to calm me down and not want to make me throw my phone across the room..(maybe that’s just an anger issue thing) But that’s not it.. after i guess the quote (which not to mention, they are beautiful quotes, and i love reading them) i get ANOTHER ADD! and then after that add finishes, you’ll never guess what happens after i see the “IQ” thing in the middle do its little spin thing before it tells me my new IQ, I GET ANOTHER ADD. like, i’m sorry, but i just cannot sit through 30 adds one after another. But yea, the games great!
So it starts well… there is that annoying blinking /distracting ad at the bottom while you play, but you give it a chance… then you get ads at the end of your rounds… not the easy to get rid of ads, the “tap the screen 20 times in various place/ starts with loud music/takes you to the app store anyway” type… then you get ads breaks while you play! Same type as above… yeah, by then you re getting very annoyed… then you get to lvl6 and you get all of the above PLUS not only an ad at the end of your round, but another one at the beginning of the next round! … aaaannnndddd that s when I drew the line! That app is outta here! I understand you want ads $$$, I get you want us to buy the lad free” version, but 1) your app is nothing special - there are to s of them just like that out there and 2) it is not good enough to pay anything for it. I can live with “some”, “easy to get rid of” ads to humor you … but that amount of crappy, pain in the neck ads ??!?!? I don t think so… I am guessing you d make more $$ with less /better ads that pple would put up with than with what you do currently, where pple just delete your app and move on to the next!
Cryptogram is a fun challenging puzzle game that I spend a lot more time than I should on. The messages they give you after you've completed it are either very nice quotes, references, or sometimes a joke. The events and tournaments are a fun detail as well. The only thing that ruins it for me are the absolutely appalling, inappropriate and clickbaited ads. After every puzzle there's an ad and before starting a new one there's an ad. The only way you can revive after three mistakes (which is a little bit too little, I make typos so the mistakes are annoying), would be having to watch an ad. The price for taking away the ads isn't too much however I personally don't think it's a good idea to invest money in a mobile game. If the ads were a little less, or if they weren't gross and sexist, then I think it would be manageable. There isn't as many ads as there is in other games thankfully. This is a great puzzle game that actually makes you use your brain, however the ads are killing off my braincells.
